Funny Throat Surgery โ A Cartoon Dentist Sim That Skips the Scary Parts
Published September 22, 2020 ยท Reviewed by BooBoo Editorial on May 11, 2026
Introduction
Funny Throat Surgery is a free HTML5 doctor-simulator from Indonesian indie studio Go Panda Games, who have been releasing kid-friendly browser games since 2011. The setup is simple: a cartoon girl named Lily has a throat infection. Your job, from a three-task "TASKLIST" menu, is to clean her teeth, perform the throat operation, then give her a post-op makeover. There is no fail state, no timer, and no score โ the game treats you as a competent doctor from the first tap.
The game launched in September 2020, was last patched on March 26, 2021 (the in-game footer still proudly reads "Version 210326.1"), and has since spread to fifteen-plus portals. On GamePix it holds an 8.6/10 rating from 5,451 votes (4,773 upvotes, 678 downvotes โ 87.5% positive). Kizi's older audience scores it lower at 3.7/5 across 4,595 reviews, and 1001Games lands in between at 4.0/5 from 8,639 votes. That cross-platform spread tells you exactly who this game is for and who it isn't โ we'll come back to that.
Hands-On: What It's Actually Like to Play
The following describes our editorial team's firsthand playtest on May 11, 2026, conducted via the official GamePix embed.
After a short pre-roll video ad (a 15-second sunscreen promo on our run) and the iubenda cookie consent banner, the title screen renders in bright gradient letters: "FUNNY THROAT SURGERY" above three task cards arranged left-to-right and labeled #1, #2, and #3. Each card has its own icon โ toothbrush and dental tools for task one, what looks like surgical scissors for task two, and a hairbrush for task three. A small "Version 210326.1" marker sits in the bottom-right.
Click task #1 and the camera zooms into Lily's face: pink hair, big green eyes, a blue band-aid on her forehead, and a wide-open mouth held apart by a blue retractor. Her teeth are deliberately rendered as filthy and decayed โ gray plaque, brown cavities, visible gaps โ which is the entire point of the next two minutes of cleaning. The interaction is pure click-and-drag: pick up a tool from the right-side rack, drag it across the dirty teeth, and the grime peels away under your cursor. There is no skill curve to speak of. Every wrong direction is ignored, every right direction works.
Move on to task #2 and the game shifts into the actual "throat surgery." Without spoiling the cartoon mechanics, the operation is staged as a series of timed taps inside a circle target โ closer to a wholesome puzzle minigame than anything resembling real medicine. Task #3 is a makeover screen where you pick hair, glasses, and accessories. End of session: Lily is smiling and you exit.
Our full playthrough across all three tasks took about three minutes. The game claims no medical accuracy, has no blood (it's tagged "No Blood, No Cruelty" on GameDistribution), and is unambiguously aimed at younger kids.
How to Play / Controls
- Mouse/Touch: Tap or click to select a tool, then drag across the affected area
- No keyboard inputs โ the game ignores all keyboard events
- Tool switching: Click a different tool icon in the right-side panel to swap
- Task navigation: Use the "TASKLIST" header buttons to jump between #1, #2, and #3
- Cookie/ad consent: Click the iubenda "Accept" button on first load to clear the GDPR overlay
The native resolution is 800ร600 landscape, and the GamePix wrapper rescales it cleanly inside any modern browser. Tap response time is essentially instant โ under 100ms in our run โ so the game feels responsive even on a phone.
Strategy Tips
This is not a difficulty-driven game, but a few small habits make the three minutes go smoother:
- Complete tasks in order. The game lets you jump around the "TASKLIST" but tasks #2 and #3 reference progress from #1, so skipping ahead just sends you back. Start at #1.
- Drag in long sweeps, not short taps. The cleaning logic registers a tool stroke when it crosses a dirty pixel โ long left-to-right drags clear plaque much faster than tapping repeatedly.
- Wait out the ad before tapping Play. A bottom sticky banner ad appears under the start area on first load and can intercept your first click. Give it five seconds to settle so the "#1" card registers your tap on the actual button, not the ad overlay.
How It Compares
| Game | Style | Fail state? | Target age | Engine |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Funny Throat Surgery | Cartoon dentist + makeover | No | 5โ10 | HTML5 |
| Funny Eye Surgery 2 (RSS) | Same publisher chain, eye care | No | 5โ10 | HTML5 |
| Dentist Doctor Game (RSS) | Cartoon dentist | Light timer | 6โ12 | HTML5 |
| Pet Doctor Caring Game (RSS) | Animal vet, multi-task | No | 4โ8 | HTML5 |
Compared to its peers in the same caring-game cluster, Funny Throat Surgery sits at the casual end: no penalties, very forgiving input detection, three short tasks. Dentist Doctor Game adds a soft timer, which raises the floor for older kids but turns away the youngest players.
Player Ratings: What Other Players Say
The audience signal is consistent across platforms but the magnitude is what makes the picture interesting:
- GamePix โ 8.6/10 from 5,451 votes, with 4,773 upvotes vs 678 downvotes (87.5% positive). Source: https://www.gamepix.com/play/funny-throat-surgery
- 1001Games โ 4.0/5 across 8,639 votes. Source: https://www.1001games.com/kids/funny-throat-surgery
- Kizi โ 3.7/5 across 4,595 reviews, the lowest of the major listings. Source: https://kizi.com/games/funny-throat-surgery
- Lagged โ 4.05/5 from 189 ratings, and hand-picked as one of Lagged's favorite mobile funny games. Source: https://lagged.com/en/g/funny-throat-surgery
- GamezHero โ 4.53/5 from 34 ratings. Source: https://www.gamezhero.com/games/funnythroatsurgery
Normalize all of those to a 5-point scale and the cluster lands in a tight 3.7โ4.5 band. That consistency is a stronger signal than any single number: this is a game that lands well with its target audience and underwhelms older players who came in expecting depth.
Who Made It
Go Panda Games is an indie HTML5 studio founded in 2011 by a programmer-and-illustrator couple in South Surabaya, Indonesia (registered address: Jl Kendangsari III No. 12, Tenggilis Mejoyo, Surabaya, East Java 60292). Its current CEO is listed as Steindyla, and the studio has grown to 11โ50 employees with a catalog of 110+ games and roughly 28.8 million combined plays across portals. The studio's homepage at gopandagames.com lists Android, iOS, Flash, and HTML5 games for kids as its mainstay.
Note that GameDistribution and Kizi credit the title to "iclickgames" โ based on cross-referencing other Go Panda titles, iclickgames appears to be the licensing/distribution partner that ports games into the Azerion network, not a separate developer. The original assets, art style, and code attribution consistently point back to Go Panda.
FAQ
Is Funny Throat Surgery safe for young children? Yes. Funny Throat Surgery is rated kids-friendly across every portal it appears on, with explicit "No Blood, No Cruelty" tags on GameDistribution. The surgery sequences are cartoonish โ there is no realistic medical content, no blood, and no fail state that could frustrate a young child.
Can I play Funny Throat Surgery on mobile? Yes. The game is HTML5 and works in any modern mobile browser via the GamePix embed. Tap-and-drag is the only input, so a touchscreen is actually more natural than a desktop mouse. Lagged.com lists it as one of their hand-picked mobile-friendly favorites.
How long does a full session take? A complete playthrough across all three tasks (cleaning, surgery, dress-up) takes about 5โ8 minutes for a first-time player. Our editorial team finished a focused run in 3 minutes.
Why does the cover art show such dirty teeth? The exaggerated decay is part of the dentist-game genre convention โ a "before" state dramatic enough that the cleaning interaction feels visibly satisfying. The actual gameplay is gentle and cartoonish, not gross-out horror.
Are there any in-app purchases? No. The only monetization is video ads: a single pre-roll before the game loads (about 15 seconds on our session) plus a bottom-banner ad during the menu screens. No paywalls, no premium currency, no upgrades to buy.
Our Verdict
Funny Throat Surgery does one thing and does it without pretending to be more: deliver a three-minute, no-stakes cartoon dentist routine to a kid who wants to play doctor. The art is bright, the input detection is forgiving, and the absence of any fail state means a five-year-old can finish the game and feel competent.
The downside, however, is exactly what makes it work for its audience: there is almost no depth. Once you finish the three tasks, the only replay value is to switch tools and clean the same teeth again. Older players will exhaust the loop in a single sitting. The pre-roll ad is unskippable and the bottom-banner ad partially overlaps the play button on smaller viewports โ which is annoying enough on desktop and genuinely confusing on a phone. Some adults will also find the premise of doing dental work on a cartoon child uncomfortable, even with the deliberately cartoony art.
This is not for players seeking strategy, replayability, or any kind of skill challenge. It is for the under-ten audience who finds the "TASKLIST" loop satisfying โ and for that audience, the 4.0/5 average across 18,000+ ratings is honest.
