Each card shows a portrait of the soldier, the weapon name in blocky serif lettering, and the deployment cost. A tank card sits below (cost 720), and on the right side, enemy units are displayed โ including "PYRO 330" with a helmeted figure next to a military vehicle.
Clicking a unit card selects it (the card gets a red border with an "APPROVED" stamp), and then clicking the terrain places that soldier on the battlefield. I deployed three infantry units โ a Colt Pistol, a Revolver, and a B.A.R. โ spending 456 of my starting 1304 currency. The soldiers appeared as small 3D figures in blue uniforms with kepis, holding their respective weapons.
Tapping the play button (a right-facing triangle in a metallic shield at bottom-right) starts the auto-battle. The unit cards disappear, a pause button appears at top-left, and speed controls (1x, 2x, 3x) show up at bottom-right with a finger-cursor tutorial icon. My blue-uniformed soldiers marched rightward across the isometric terrain toward the enemy positions. When they made contact with the brown-uniformed enemy, they stopped and began firing. There is zero tactical control during combat โ you watch your army fight and hope your deployment was sufficient.
Level 1 ended quickly. My three infantry units defeated the opposition with no visible losses. The game advanced to "Level 2 โ August 17, 1914" with an increased budget of 1472, and a new unit type unlocked: "SHOTGUN 270."

Spread your infantry across the width of the deployment zone instead of clustering them together. Enemy units attack the nearest target, so a spread formation forces enemies to split their fire across multiple soldiers rather than focusing damage on a single cluster. In Level 2, I placed units at three different vertical positions and all three survived the engagement.

Save expensive units like the tank (720 currency) for later levels when enemy compositions include vehicles and pyro units. On Level 1, three cheap infantry units (total cost 456) defeated the enemy easily. Spending 720 on a tank would have been overkill and left less currency for the next round. The game rewards frugal deployment because leftover currency carries forward.

Use the 3x speed button to skip through battles you expect to win easily. Early levels are forgiving, and watching soldiers slowly walk across the field at 1x adds nothing strategic. Reserve 1x viewing for levels where the outcome is uncertain and you want to observe which unit types are causing the most damage, so you can adjust your next deployment accordingly.

Prioritize the B.A.R. unit (130 currency) over the Colt Pistol (156) in early levels. The B.A.R. costs less and appears to deal comparable or higher damage based on our testing. The Colt Pistol is more expensive for what seems to be a basic pistol-range unit. This cost efficiency matters because currency accumulates slowly and later levels demand more units.
