Grand Theft Auto V - Prologue Features
Prologue is the first mission in Grand Theft Auto V. The mission is set three weeks before the events of the game, and introduces the three protagonists - Michael, Trevor and Franklin - and their respective backstories.
The mission begins with Michael De Santa, a retired bank robber, being interrogated by the FIB. Michael is uncooperative, and the agents threaten to bring up his family if he does not cooperate. Michael then tells his story, which is intercut with flashbacks.
Michael explains that he was born in 1965, and grew up in Los Santos. He became a bank robber in his early twenties, and met his future wife, Amanda, during a heist. The two married and had two children - Tracy and Jimmy.
Michael's criminal career ended when he was arrested during a heist gone wrong. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but was released early for good behaviour.
Michael returned to Los Santos, but found that his family had moved on without him. His wife had divorced him and was dating someone else, and his children were strangers to him.
Michael was struggling to get by, until he was approached by FIB agent Dave Norton. Norton offered Michael a job, working for the FIB as an informant. Michael agreed, and began working for the FIB.
The mission then cuts to Trevor Philips, a sociopathic criminal who lives in the desert outside Los Santos. Trevor is introduced in a drug deal gone wrong, where he brutally kills the dealers who double-crossed him.
Trevor then tells his story, which is intercut with flashbacks. Trevor was born in 1968, and grew up in Canada. His parents were abusive, and he ran away from home at a young age.
Trevor ended up in Los Santos, where he became a criminal. He met Michael during a heist, and the two became partners in crime.
The two eventually fell out, and Trevor left Los Santos. He ended up in the desert, where he set up a small methamphetamine lab.
Trevor's criminal enterprise was successful, until he was betrayed by his business partner. Trevor tracked down and killed his partner, but was left with nothing.
Trevor was then approached by Brad, a member of the Lost MC. Brad offered Trevor a job, and Trevor agreed.
The mission then cuts to Franklin Clinton, a young gang member from South Los Santos. Franklin is introduced while he is repoing cars for his boss, Lamar.
Franklin's story is then told, through flashbacks. Franklin was born in 1988, and grew up in South Los Santos. He was a member of the Grove Street Families, but was never really involved in the gang life.
Franklin's life changed when he met Lamar. Lamar introduced Franklin to the world of repoing cars, and Franklin quickly took to it.
Franklin's repo business was successful, until he was caught by a rival gang. Lamar was killed, and Franklin was left alone.
Franklin was then approached by Michael, who offered him a job. Franklin agreed, and began working for the FIB.
The mission ends with the three protagonists meeting up, and preparing for their first job together.
